Zook Beat strives to increase awareness of and participation in the arts. Working with artists, schools, and community organizations, Zook Beat brings internationally acclaimed artists to Santa Cruz audiences of all ages - in concert setting and in the classroom.

Inti-Illimani - Chile
Oct. 2004 @ Aptos High

Zook Beat has facilitated workshops in the Santa Cruz area since 2002. The same musicians who have performed before a paying audience also visit one classroom (30 children maximum) at a time, and share with them their culture, music, and heritage.

4/5 Grade class @ Branciforte Elementary

Our mission is to:

    - Open students' minds to the beauty and power of music, challenging them to hear, see and think in different ways.

    - Allow young people to experience the joys and excitement of music from different cultures.

    - Enhance understanding and appreciation of the performing arts and keep the performing arts accessible.

Proceeds from Zook Beat's concerts in Santa Cruz help to facilitate and sponsor this program. If you would like more information regarding the world music program, or would like to sponsor a class workshop or welcome musicians into your classroom, please contact us at: 831.419.7134 or email us at: info@zookbeat.com
