Best known for his work with Toumani Diabaté's Symmetric Orchestra, Kassé Mady ranks alongside Salif Keita as one of the great veteran male voices of Mali. Kassé Mady Diabaté is the most humble of griots and a singer who has always insisted on the virtue of humility. Perhaps this goes some way towards explaining why this gifted vocalist has not yet been recognised as a major talent in his own right. Hopefully, the release of his fourth solo album, Manden Djeli Kan, could change matters soon.
